Strengthening Coordination and Support: The Inauguration of The Leprosy Mission Nigeria’s National Coordination Office.

On the 12th of July, 2023, The Leprosy Mission Nigeria (TLMN) took a significant step forward in its mission to combat leprosy by commissioning its new national coordination office building.

The ceremony began with an opening prayer led by Dr. Oladoyin Odubanjo followed by the Nigerian National anthem sung in patriotic fervor. Distinguished guests, diplomats, and international partners extended their goodwill messages and expressed their support for TLMN’s endeavors in combatting leprosy.

Mr. Joran Bjallerstedt, Deputy Head of Mission at the Swedish Embassy, and Ms. Leann Johnston, Charge d’Affaires of the Australian High Commission, both expressed their support for TLMN’s endeavours in combatting leprosy.hief Chika

Okpala, MON, serving as TLM-Nigeria’s Goodwill Ambassador, passionately urged for unwavering commitment and compassion in the fight against leprosy as he spoke in inspiring words.The Country Lead of The Leprosy Mission England and Wales, Mr. Peter Waddup expressed his belief in the possibility of eradicating leprosy and the significant progress the new facility will contribute towards the goal of ending leprosy. He also emphasized early detection and treatment to prevent the advancement of leprosy.

Mrs. Nella Andem-Ewa Rabana (SAN), the Chairperson of TLMN’s board, reiterated the importance of the new coordination office highlighting its positive impact on advancing the objectives of the mission. She expressed her confidence that the facility will not only drive the organization to achieve more but also create an enabling environment for staff to efficiently carry out their duties. A touching testimony was shared by Mrs. Esther Emmanuel, an individual impacted by leprosy. She narrated her transformational journey of hope and support received through TLMN’s efforts, which extended to her family. Pastor Shola Adesoye, the serving overseer of The Lighthouse Ministries International, addressed the guests as he emphasized the importance of compassion and inclusivity in society. He ended with prayers for the management and staff of TLMN.

His Royal Majesty, Professor James O.I. Ayatse CFR, Tor Tiv, and President of the Association of Christian Traditional Rulers of Nigeria, officiated the commissioning and declared the building open. This marked a new era for TLMN operations.

Following this was a comprehensive tour led by the National Director of The Leprosy Mission Nigeria of the newly inaugurated building. As the event concluded, Mr. Ayuba Adamu Paiko, Secretary of the TLMN Board of Trustees, delivered a heartfelt vote of thanks expressing gratitude to all attendees and contributors. After which closing prayers were offered for the success of TLMN’s future endeavours to wrap up the event.
