The Leprosy Mission Nigeria (TLMN) in collaboration with the Diocese of Kubwa (Anglican Communion) held a medical outreach at Piwoyi Community, Lugbe, Abuja, Nigeria on Saturday the 19th of March 2022.
Piwoyi a satellite rural settlement located along the Abuja Airport Expressway is home to an estimated 10,000 families affected by diverse health conditions including skin infections, auditory and visual impairments, and malaria. In line with the missions’ tenets to bring healing and restoration to people with disabling conditions, TLMN Mobile “Wheels that Heals” Outreach Team provided medical supplies, counselling, and medicines to the community groups.
The turn-out was impressive, as stakeholders acknowledged the outreach as timely. Venerable Simeon Alfred Obisike of the Anglican Communion noted the exercise was as huge success, with an impact that can never be forgotten”. A resident of Piwoyi community Mr. Hyginus added “I am happy that such an outreach happened, and many people were assisted, who ordinarily could not have afforded such medical services”. Similarly Mrs. Blessing Jerry, another resident said she was impressed with the standard of service and the quality of medicines provided.
Accordingly, Rev. Canon Joseph Ikipi, the Chairman “Revival of the Open-Air Crusade stated the activity was noteworthy especially as target beneficiaries were the less privilege who ordinarily cannot afford the cost of services if it was out-of-pocket payment. He was hopeful, more lives will be touched by the activities and programmes of The Leprosy mission Nigeria.
